A new chapter in the “Un nome in ogni quartiere” project has been unveiled with the inauguration of a mural in Via Mauro Rota, in Milan’s Greco district. The piece was created by illustrator and muralist Viola Gesmundo, in collaboration with the cultural enterprise BePart, and with technical support from Maxicolor, a paint company based in Melegnano.
The mural is a tribute to integration: diverse hands reaching out to one another, connected by threads that run along several buildings, symbolically linking them together. It’s a visual representation of the relationships that unite residents—bonds shaped through collaboration and community involvement.
Over the past summer, dozens of families from the “S. Anna” preschool, along with children and teens from the “S. Martino” parish youth center, took part in interviews and workshops led by BePart to help shape the narrative behind the work.
The “Un nome in ogni quartiere” project, which has so far involved twenty neighborhoods across Milan, was conceived by the Office for Art in Public Spaces of the City of Milan and Milano&Partners, with the support of Fondazione di Comunità Milano. Together with Fondazione Claudio De Albertis, they funded half of the interventions carried out to date.
